Dr. Christof Krieger, born in 1971, has been director of the Middle-Moselle-Museum in his home town of Traben-Trarbach since 2001. After completing his studies in Medieval and Modern History, German Studies and Philosophy at the Universities of Giessen and Trier in 2002 with a master's thesis on "National Socialist winegrowing policy on the Moselle", he continued his academic research into the history of Nazi viticulture in parallel to his professional activities and wrote his doctoral thesis on "'Wine is the people's drink' - wine propaganda in the Third Reich" in 2015. The dissertation, the first ever academic monograph on the history of Nazi viticulture, was published by Rhein/Mosel-Verlag in 2018 and is now out of print in its second edition.
